Stuffed Chocolate Coffee Buns
A few years back i got a chance to taste the coffee & coffee buns from “Papa Roti” in here Riyadh and immediately i fell in love with the buns. Rich and delicious coffee buns with equally delicious coffee cookie toppings.
I tried making those buns at home and they turned out sooo good.
Recipe is very simple with a few basic ingredients.

These rich and delicious coffee buns with coffee cookie toppings are absolutely heavenly.

For the Dough
- 2&1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg room temperature
- 3/4 cup whole milk warm
- 3 tbsp butter room temperature
- 1&3/4 tsp Yeast
- 3 tbsp Granulated Sugar
- 1 tsp salt
For Filling
- 50 gm Frozen Dark chocolate (cut into small 10 cubes 5gm each)
- 50 gm Frozen Butter (cut into small 10 cubes 5gm each)
For Coffee Topping
- 2 tsp coffee powder dissolved in warm water
- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 5 tbsp butter
- 1 egg room temperature
- 1/2+1 cup+tbsp all-purpose flour
For bread dough & Filling:
In a bowl add warm milk, sugar & yeast. Mix well & let it rest for 10min until double in size
Add egg & whisk to combine.
In another bowl combine flour & salt. Now add the yeast egg mixture, butter & make a soft dough. Transfer on a clean surface & Knead for 10min, until we get a soft ,smooth, elastic dough.( use 1tbsp flour or water if needed)
Divide the dough & divide into 10 equal balls.
Flatten the balls and stuff with frozen butter and chocolate cube and then wrap it with the dough to seal it completely.
Place these rolls onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Let the dough balls sit and rest for 1-2 hours.
For coffee topping:
In a bowl add butter & sugar ,mix well until smooth & creamy.
Add prepared coffee, whisked egg and flour. Make a smooth mixture.(Don't ove mix),
Transfer into a piping bag. Meanwhile, preheat the oven at 180c for 15 minutes
Pipe the prepared coffee topping onto the risen buns in a tight circular pattern upto 2/3rd of the top surface.
Bake these buns at 180c for 18-20min.Serve with hot coffee and enjoy!!
