Ingredients

  • 2 cups kunafah dough
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted better
  • 180 gm Philadelphia cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp pistachio powder for garnishing

For sugar Syrup

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Rose water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°c.
Grease a round cake tin or any heat proof round vessel with little butter and keep it ready
  • In a bowl crush kunafah dough using your hands.
I have used a food processor and grind for 3-4 seconds for 3 times only.
You can crush using your hands if you want long threads.
  • Add powdered sugar (helps to achieve that perfect Crispy texture) and melted butter.
    Combine evenly.
  • Now move half this to the greased vessel and spread all over including the sides of the cake tin and press lightly with your hands.
  • Add cream cheese over this and spread all over.
I have not added anything to the cheese.
I like the rich cheese flavor. You can add cream if you like. Just reduce the cheese quantity to half and add thick cream and spread all over the kunafah dough.
  • Cover it with the remaining Kunafa dough and again press lightly to set it evenly.
Bake it in the preheated oven for about 40 – 45 minutes, or till the top portion turns golden & Crisp.
  • Prepare the sugar syrup by combining water, sugar, lemon juice and rose water in a sauce pan.
Boil and cook for 3-5 minutes.
    sugar syrup is ready.
  • Remove the kunafah from the oven.
Pour 3tbsp of syrup all over the baked Kunafah.
Invert it to a plate and pour the remaining syrup over it.
Top it with powdered pistachios. Serve hot and enjoy
