Gulbarga special Tahari recipe is a famous spicy rice dish that is made with beef, tomatoes and rice cooked with spices.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 gm boneless beef
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1&1/2 cup water
  • 2&1/2 cup rice
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 4 clove
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 6-7 tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander and mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped Fenugreek leaves
  • 5-6 green chillies
  • 1 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves
  • 2 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 large potato
  • Hot water to cook rice
  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • 1 pinch orange food colour

Instructions
 

  • In a pressure cook add meat, salt, turmeric, bay leaf & black cardamom. Add water & pressure cook until the meat is tender. Keep aisde.
  • In a pan add oil, cloves & cinnamon sticks.Add sliced onions & fry for 2 minutes. Add ginger garlic paste & cook for 1 minute.
  • Add sliced tomatoes & cook on high heat for 5 minutes. Add salt, kashmiri red chilly powder & garam masala.
  • Now add in potatoes, cover & cook on low heat for 5-7 minutes.
  • Now add chopped fresh Fenugreek leaves, coriander leaves & green chillies. Add dried Fenugreek leaves & mix well.
  • Now add hot water , salt & soaked rice .Cook until the water dries .
  • Add food colour, ghee/oil and sprinkle garam masala on top.Cover the lid & cook on low flame for 10-12 minutes until the rice is cooked completely.
  • Serve hot with raita or Paya curry.
