Cheesy Filo Cigars

Cheesy Filo Cigar

For Manchurian Stir Fry Filling
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 3 Cloves Garlic finely chopped
- 1 small Onion finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Cabbage roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup Carrot julienne cut
- 1/2 cup Bell peppers julienne cut
- 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 1&1/2 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp Red Chilly paste
- 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves Chopped
- 2 tbsp Spring onion greens Chopped
- 1&1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese Shredded
For Cigars
- 4 Sheets Filo Pastry thawed
- 1/2 Cup Butter melted
- 1 Egg
- 1 tbsp Water
- 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
For Manchurian Stir Fry Filling
In a pan heat oil, add garlic & Onions. Fry for 1min
Add carrot, chopped bell peppers & cabbage. Fry for 30 sec.
Add salt & pepper and mix well.
Now add soya sauce, red chilly paste & ketchup and mix well until well combined.
Add in the coriander leaves & Onion greens and mix well. Filling is now ready.
For Cigars
After thawing the Filo pastry as per package directions, Take 4 filo pastry sheets (we need only 4 sheets for this recipe), Brush each sheet with melted butter .
Now cut the filo dough sheets into 3 rectangles approximately 5inches, then cut into half total 6 cigar .
Spread 1-2tbsp of prepared mixture along the width of one end and add cheese. Then carefully roll up the mixture into a cigar shape.
Prepare the egg mixture by mixing egg & 1tbsp water in a bowl. Whisk using a fork until well combined. Keep aside.
Place the prepared cigars on parchment paper, Brush the top of the pastry with the egg mixture & sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
Bake them in a preheated oven at 180c for about 15-20 minutes. Serve hot.
I have used only 4 filo pastry sheets and stored the remaining for later use .
If you want to store the leftover filo pastry then wrap tightly it in a plastic or store in a zip lock bag and refrigerate up to 1 week.
